Mark Jardina was a remarkable man who passed away suddenly on September 15, 2011.
While nothing can replace the person, his example of living a gracious life should be followed. Mark was a caring and thoughtful, loving and brave person. Therefore, this non-profit was created to keep these virtues alive and growing despite his absence. To this end, we adopted the phrase, “Remember, Reflect, Run” for our first race.
We want to challenge both ourselves and others to strive for improvement through helping others as well as ourselves. We believe that through a healthy and active lifestyle, we can promote some of the wonderful experiences that we enjoyed in the time we had with Mark.
That is why we want to offer encouragement to pursue healthier lifestyle choices and to learn of and appreciate the value of having more time with those you love. It was an honor, a privilege, and a blessing to be associated with Mark, and now we want to share our hopes for a healthier life with all those we encounter.
To support and develop programs in underserved communities that enhance lives through physical activity.
The Mark A. Jardina Foundation, Inc. will provide goods, services or organize events that promote a healthy, vibrant, lifestyle in children and adults.
This organizations purpose was realized with our first effort to organize a team to run the Georgia Half Marathon on March 18, 2012. We had a team of over 35 runners and made this event our introduction to the community.
Our next effort will involve donating sport balls of all types (mainly, soccer, football, basketball, tennis and golf) and donating them to economically challenged children and recreational / athletic facilities in various regions of Georgia.
We will provide the opportunity for a child (regardless of race/creed/religion) to have a ball for involvement in a sport that they otherwise may not have a chance to.
Another yearly effort will be to organize a golf tournament to raise awareness and funding for additional campaigns – as those already mentioned. Our intention is to capitalize upon the donations of balls as a way to grow the relationships established so that we can further our mission by actively participating within the state at large.
